Kid Rock and Longtime Manager Part Ways

Now that Kid Rock’s new album "Rock N Roll Jesus" is topping the US Billboard charts for the first time, his manager decided to resign after a 7-year relationship with the artist.

Detroit-based Ed "Punch" Andrews announced on October 16, that he is no longer Rock’s manager, and their split was amicable.

"I couldn’t be happier for him," the 66-year-old industry veteran who has managed fellow Detroit rocker Bob Seger for more than four decades, was quoted by Free press as saying. "He’s a great act, and he’s going to go on to even bigger things."

Rock has recently signed with Jon Bon Jovi's Nashville-based management company Vector, Billboard reported.

While more details about their departure were not disclosed, nor about Andrews whether he is still working with Seger, whom he's handled since the late '60s, Andrews said the split was bound to happen any moment now.

"I signed on for a year, and stayed for seven," Andrews said. He became Rock’s manager in the in 2000 as the artist’s fame started growing.

"I came in on a high, and I’m leaving on a high," said Andrews. "I’m going out with a No. 1 record, a No. 1 tour. The new management will come in at a good time. It was a surprise ending, but it wasn’t a bad ending."

Part of his promoting tour for the album, which sold 170,000 copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan, Pamela Anderson’s former husband has also scheduled some TV appearance on "Ellen" on October 25, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live! on October 26, the American Music Awards on November 22 and on Larry the Cable Guy's VH1 Christmas special in December.
