Miley Cyrus Says Youth Should Suffice As Excuse For Mistakes

Miley Cyrus may be only 15 years old but she has her own words of wisdom, including those that say youngsters naturally make mistakes.

The “Hannah Montana” star will be discussing those controversial photographs which appeared in the April edition of Vanity Fair for a long time now, explaining again and again what happened, how she felt and how she has overcome the episode.

The young singer, currently promoting her second solo studio album, “Breakout,” and the first not connected to her Hannah Montana persona, was on “Good Morning America” Tuesday and had to go though the whole analysis of the situation once more time.

It sounds though like she has reached some mature conclusions of her own.

The 15-year-old singer-songwriter/actress said that, looking back, she thinks she was trying “to get things done and maybe look for an older audience.”

This inspired her “to go with what they [Vanity Fair] were saying,” and what resulted was a photograph which showed much of her bare back and suggested that she was topless underneath the silk bed sheet covering her chest.

Photographer Annie Leibovitz, the picture’s author, released a statement at the time explaining that she had only thought the image to be “beautiful.”

Miley Cyrus however was heavily criticized for indulging in behavior deemed inappropriate, when she is role model to millions of children and tweens.

“People need to remember that I am young and that I do have feelings, and I’ll do the same thing for them,” the young artist said Tuesday. “Anyone who was 15 years old can’t say they haven't made a mistake. So I think it’s just normal.”

The singer added that the experience of being at the center of a controversy, though painful, was also a lesson, in that now she “knows what it’s like to have people talk about you like you’re kind of iron.”
