John A. "Junior" Gotti, the former head of the Gambino family, is currently under arrest and faces charges linking him to three New York murders, The Associated Press reported quoting a law enforcement official.
The 44-year-old mobster was taken into custody by FBI agents at his Long Island home. Tampa federal authorities will most likely announce a racketeering indictment that will charge Gotti with murder conspiracy in connection with killings in the late 1980s and early 1990s, AP reported.
Another indictment charges five other men with racketeering as some of the suspects are linked with Gotti in one of the three New York murders. A fourth killing which happened in New York is mentioned in the indictment, but it is not linked to Gotti, the son of "Dapper Don" John Gotti, the late Gambino family boss.
“Junior” Gotti was charged with racketeering crimes including bribery, extortion, gambling and fraud in a trial which took place in 1999. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 77 months in jail. He served the sentence and was released in 2005. He was also tried in Manhattan on racketeering charges when he faced accusations of plotting to kidnap Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa. The trials in 2005 and 2006 ended in hung juries and mistrials.
