O.J.’s Bail Doubled to $250,000; He Denies Violating Terms

O.J. Simpson’s bail was doubled today to $250,000. An angry Las Vegas judge took the decision to increase it after Simpson violated the terms of his initial bail as he tried to reach a co-defendant in his armed robbery case.

"I don't know Mr. Simpson what the heck you were thinking - or maybe that's the problem - you weren't," Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass said as she lectured Simpson.

"I don't know if it's just arrogance. I don't know if it's ignorance. But you've been locked up at the Clark County Detention Center since Friday because of arrogance or ignorance -- or both."

Judge Glass increased Simpson’s $125,000 initial bail and also required that 15 percent be paid before the defendant could be released from jail.

Mr Simpson’s attorney, Gabriel Grasso, denies that his client violate the terms of the bail and asket Judge Glass to let the former football player out of prison to await trial in his armed robbery case.

According to the district attorney, Simpson told Pereira to tell co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart that he was very upset about the testimony during their preliminary hearing.

"I just want, want C.J. to know that ... I'm tired of this (expletive). Fed up with (expletive) changing what they told me. All right?" Simpson was quoted as saying in a transcript that was included court documents filed Friday.

The former football player had been specifically instructed by Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joe M. Bonaventure in September not to contact anyone taking part in the same case.

Mr Simpson appeared before the jury on Wednesday after five nights and four days at the Clark County jail, where he was cooperative, police said.
