“Office"'s Star Craig Robinson Pleads Guilty To Drug Possession

Hollywood actor Craig Robinson, most popular for his role in NBC's comedy "The Office" and "Pineapple Express," entered his guilty plea to a felony count of possession of ecstasy in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday.

According to a statement from L.A. District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robinson, "the judge allowed him to enter a drug-diversion program."

"If he completes counseling and stays clean for 18 months, the case will be dismissed," Robinson told People.com.

The actor, who was on probation for a DUI he got in 2006, has 36 months to enter the drug-counseling program and is due in court on September 25, for a progress report. If he will manage to pull it through, he will not have a conviction on his record since counts two and three (possession of a controlled substance and under influence of a controlled substance) were dropped against him, while count one — possession of a controlled substance (the ecstasy count) — will be dropped once Robinson completes his drug education classes.

If Robinson's fails to comply, he could face a minimum of 16 months in state prison. Robinson has already completed the terms of his 2006 probation.

Robinson's lawyer, Blair Berk, was quoted by TMZ.com as saying, "Mr. Robinson really appreciates and takes seriously the opportunity which has been given to him by the court and the prosecution to have all of the charges against him dismissed, upon successful completion of a counseling program."

According to documents released Friday, police in Culver City arrested Robinson on June 29 on suspicion of possessing MDMA, also known as ecstasy, and methamphetamine.

He was pulled over by police after committing a traffic violation in Culver City, CA. The drugs were found during a routine check of his vehicle. In addition to the drugs, police also concluded that Robinson was under the influence of amphetamines, cocaine, and cannabinoids, according to a complaint filed by the L.A. County District Attorney’s office.

He was released the same day after posting a $10,000 bail, jail records show. Los Angeles County prosecutors charged Robinson with two felony counts of drug possession and one count of being under the influence of illegal drugs.

Robison, 36, who made himself known through stand up comedy, became familiar to television audiences for his portrayal of Philbin, a warehouse foreman on "The Office," starring Steve Carell. His credits also include "Arrested Development," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story." He can next be seen in Kevin Smith's upcoming comedy, "Zack and Miri Make a Porno."
