Speaking to Barbara Walters by phone on Sunday, the troubled heiress described the past few days she’s been in jail saying she’s doing better and has decided to drop all the acting because she feels God has given her a "new chance."
Finding some spare time while in Twin Towers Correctional Facility, Paris Hilton gave ABC’s The View co-host a call and discussed her state of mind of how jail has changed her.
"I used to act dumb," she told Walters. "It was an act. That act is no longer cute. It is not who I am nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who look up to me."
"Now, I would like to make a difference. I’ve become much more spiritual," Hilton added. "God has given me this new chance."
Paris’ first interview behind bars was not recorded, but Walters recalled Paris "sounded tired, but totally aware of what she was saying."
In jail for just several days, the 26-year-old socialite told Walters "she’s hanging in there" but feels like "a different person," adding that she doesn’t want to cause "any more problems" and has dropped the appeal.
When asked about her short release last week, Paris denied sobbing or screaming as previously reported, but said "I was not eating or sleeping. I was severely depressed. I felt as if I was in a cage. I was not myself. It was a horrible experience."
