Monday morning, Houston
police had a hard time with a driver who refused to stop at an officer’s signal
and caused a 45-minute police chase, which ended with the driver smashing into
a concrete barrier.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the chase started around
7:30 a.m. made its way through town, heading south on Texas
288, then west on South Loop 610 and finally
turned on the Southwest Freeway, U.S. 59.
The gray two-seater Nissan made its way among other vehicles
and, for about 45 minutes, it looked like a movie scene, as the driver drove
into oncoming traffic in order to avoid police. He even passed by a police
blockage, near the Edloe exit. He was
very determined to have it his way, but he ran out of luck.
The chase ended around 8 a.m. when the car crashed into the
concrete barricade on the right shoulder of the freeway in the Sharpstown area
and the driver surrendered. Police arrested him. Even tough the finale wasn’t
smooth, he didn’t get hurt.
It is not known why the driver ran away from the police in
the first place. The officer who tried to pull him over said that the reason he
tried to do that was because he saw the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
