Recently, the mobile phone market has been flooded with touch screen mobile phones, some very successful and others not so popular. BlackBerry’s reply to the flooding is, of course, its BlackBerry Storm phone, the first touch screen device created by Rest In Motion.

Many have been awaiting the launch of the new device with great excitement, and many people have pre-ordered the phone. Unfortunately for them, the latest news indicates that there might not be enough Storms for everybody. It seems that a last minute detection of a flaw in the phone has caused the manufacturer to stop shipment to stores and schedule the phones for re-flashing.

The new BlackBerry phone is said to be of high performance and that it is able to compete with other large touch screen titans out there, like iPhone and HTC’s G1. The BlackBerry Storm is not an attempt to create a true iPhone killer, but to give BlackBerry users and fans the possibility to enjoy the newest technologies that are available at the moment.

The fact that one Verizon shop might get only 20 Storms instead of 100, can’t be great news for Rest In Motion and for potential buyers. It seems that iPhone will still shine through the aggressive promoting and clever marketing, a performance that wasn’t even reached by G1, a phone for which Google designed its operating system.

All in all, people are still waiting Storm’s release with great excitement, and if Rest In Motion manages to clear the situation and starts shipping in large numbers, the BlackBerry Storm might just be the next star on the touch screen phone scene.
