Electronic Arts made available ‘Spore Creature Creator,’ which accounts for about one third of the much awaited ‘Spore’ game. EA’s title is part of the Sims series but has a different approach compared to all other similar games.
With the Creature Creator, the player is given the power to create life forms of al kind by choosing from different options for the parts of the body of the creature that are made available by EA. What is more, the player can rescale or reshape them to his own will, making the number of possible creatures practically unlimited.
What is more, the way the parts of the body are modified or placed on the torso affect the way the creature moves or sounds, which also reacts to the addition of body parts if it likes them or feels that they will make it move better or more freely. For example, adding a pair of wings on a creature, will cast a smile on its face. Players are also allowed to choose the color that the animal’s skin will have.
The creatures could then be used by their creators as avatars on social networking sites like MySpace or Youtube, or can be uploaded or downloaded on and from the game’s online creature database, Sporepedia.
The complete version of the game will be launched in September, and will allow players to inhabit planets with their creature, as well as fight for supremacy with life forms created by others.
Spore Creature Creator is available for download for $10. There is also a free demo of the game, which contains about a quarter of the features you would get for the $10 version.
