T-Mobile Makes Preorder Of 1.5 million G1 Androids

T-Mobile has already preordered 1.5 million units of Google’s G1 Android cell phone. The move of the cell phone services carrier comes just 10 days before the official launch of the phone also called “The Dream.”

The news was first put on the media market by Web site Motley Fool. None of the parts involved in the manufacturing or wholesaling of the G1 Android confirmed the report. Google developed the Android operating system on which G1 will run on. Taiwan phone manufacturer HTC, which first named it “The Dream,” produces the phone, while T-Mobile signed a deal to sell it along with its services.

The official release date of the G1 Android is October 22 and many experts in the smart phones industry are expecting “The Dream” to give Apple and its iPhone 3G a run for their money. HTC’s G1 Android stock already sold out as the preorders were three times higher than T-Mobile initially said it would buy.

"Because of overwhelming demand, we're setting aside even more T-Mobile G1 phones as a special thanks to you, our loyal T-Mobile customers,” T-Mobile wrote on its Web site.

"Supplies are limited, so this is your chance to order yours today before it hits the streets and guarantee you don't go without."

If you already are a T-Mobile customer, you could be in line to purchase a G1 Android for just $179.99 plus taxes, fees and a two-year agreement with the carrier. Place your order until the officials launch date (not included) and you will most likely become the owner of the new and hot handset around November 10.

“The Dream” will feature Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Talk, YouTube and other similar features developed by Google Inc. The G1 also incorporates a touch screen, 3-megapixel camera, customizable home screen, QWERTY keyboard, music player, 3G network and Wi-Fi access.
