Testosterone Patch Might Improve Sexual Desire In Women

There is a known fact that there aren’t any specific treatments for postmenstrual women to regain their libido and, though, the lack of sexual desire is not a disease, if it affects the quality of life, women need a chance to do something about it. Recent studies show that the use of testosterone patches in postmenstrual women might help with their libido.

The study was conducted by testing groups of women with the patch and others with a placebo, a patch that has no effect on the organism. The results show that the women on the testosterone patch reported 2.1 satisfying sexual episodes in four weeks, while the other groups scored less.

Doctors say that not feeling the desire anymore is a normal step in evolution and it doesn’t mean that without sexual episodes there is no love. On the other hand, the lack of desire might affect some women and if this the case they should do something about it and it’s indicated they talk to their doctors.

The testosterone patch proved to have some side effects like the unwanted growing of hair and though it is not certain, some believe that it might cause breast cancer. In the group of women that wore the testosterone patch, three of them got breast cancer. Scientists don’t know exactly if this is because of the patch or because some other factors in the past.

The FDA didn’t approve with the use of the patch in the US as the long term effects are not clear enough and the use of hormones every day can lead to some health problems.
