Thanksgiving Box Office Hits, “Four Christmases” At The Top

Reese Witherspoon is one of Hollywood’s most beloved actresses, bringing her Southern charm to sunny California. Except for her career as an actress, Reese Witherspoon has also worked as a film producer. Recently, she has been one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses. Her first feature role was in “The Man in the Moon”, in 1991. She moved on to other movies, such as “Freeway”, “Overnight Delivery”, “Pleasantville”, “Twilight”, “Election” – which got her a Golden Globe nomination, “Legally Blonde” 1&2, “Sweet Home Alabama” or the widely-acclaimed “Walk the Line”, a recount of Johnny Cash’s “ life and career in which she portrayed June Carter Cash. This particular role got her an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress. In 1999, Reese Witherspoon married her co-star from pop-cult movie “Cruel Intentions”, Ryan Phillippe. Together, they have two children, a daughter Ava and a boy, Deacon. The apparently happy couple, however, separated in 2006 and divorced in 2007. Momentarily, Reese Witherspoon owns a production company, “Type A Films”.

Vince Vaughn made his entrance in the movie business in the 1980s, but it was the 1996 role in the movie “Swingers” which brought him fame and success. He gained even more popularity after being cast by Spielberg in “The Lost World: Jurassic Park”, which lead to him impersonating Norman Bates in a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho.” Afterwards, he landed a role in “Old School”, which then got him parts in “Starsky and Hutch” and “Dodgeball” in 2004, followed by “Be Cool”, “Wedding Crashers”, “Thumbsucker” and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” in 2005. Vince Vaughn dated Jennifer Aniston, his co-star from “The Break-Up” between 2005 and 2006, just after her highly media-covered break-up with Brad Pitt.

This holiday season, the motion picture “Four Christmases” brings you both Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn in a romantic, seasonal comedy. The movie premiere over the Thanksgiving weekend has skyrocketed “Four Christmases” to the top of the box office, even above such eagerly-awaited movies like the craze-causing “Twilight” or “Australia”. Basically, they earned $46.7 million from Wednesday to Sunday. Over the three-day weekend, “Four Christmases” grossed $31.7 million. The movie follows a non-conformist couple who visit all their four divorced parents, hence the title “Four Christmases”.

Following “Four Christmases”, the highly-anticipated “Twilight” earned $39.5 million Wednesday through Sunday, but only $26.4 million over the three-day weekend. However, “Twilight” enjoyed an awesome debut, and it has earned almost $120 million over just eight days. “Bolt” managed to get $36 over the five days, and $26.6 million from Friday until Sunday. Gus Van Sant’s “Milk” managed to climb into the top 10 box office hits although it only played in 36 theatres. The bio of the first openly gay American politician to be elected in public office in California, starring Sean Penn as Harvey Milk, managed to get $1.9 million over the five-day frame, and $1.4 million from Friday to Sunday.
